This view of some hay bales and a field was painted Plein Air outside of Watkinsville, GA. It was early in the summer but the sun was incredibly intense and while painting it I could feel my right arm getting burnt to a crisp. That’s one way to learn how to paint fast…

This painting features a small country road outside of our home in Watkinsville, GA. Something about the scene drew me in and the loneliness of the road. I started painted this in January and had no idea how prescient the concept of “stop ahead” would be for all of us.

The painting features a view of a shed and a country road near our house in Watkinsville. I spent a good bit of 2020 teaching my daughter to drive on these backroads and was able to soak in the scenery when I was not frantically saying “slow down” “stop, stop, stop.” Around the Bend was juried into the 2021 American Impressionist Society’s Small Works Show. The painting is on display at Reinert Fine Art in Charlestown, SC through April 30th, 2021.
